Winter Weather Policy

The ICU provides an opportunity for people to experience a rich diversity of cultures and ideas by learning another language in an informal, supportive setting. Both the language classes and the conversation clubs play an important role in advancing the ICU's goal of "sharing a world of cultures."

All classes are held in eight-week sessions and are taught by native speakers. Language students must be ICU members and pay a fee of $40 per term. The ICU is offering classes at the ICU and also adult classes at Little Lingoes. Please register for all classes through the ICU. (use our online payment option). Some classes have a higher fee; see the notes below. Fees help cover ICU expenses and support the further development of language classes. Meetings are held at the ICU, 1st floor of City Hall, 206 South Main Street, Greenville.

ENGLISH AND SPANISH CONVERSATION CLUBS (ESL)
The ICU English and Spanish Conversation Clubs offer an opportunity for speakers from different cultures to meet together, practice their spoken English and Spanish, and gain confidence in discussing different subjects. These clubs emphasize conversation rather than instruction, and they are led by native speakers.

English and Spanish Conversation Clubs are open to all current members of the ICU. While visitors can come one time, ICU membership is required for regular attendance.

WANT TO TEACH YOUR LANGUAGE?
If you are interested in teaching a class in your native language, please contact us or visit our Volunteer site for further information.

WINTER WEATHER POLICY
In the event of dangerous winter weather, the ICU follows the practice of the Greenville County School District in determining whether to close. Thus, if schools are closed, the ICU is closed and classes are cancelled. If a weather situation develops during the day, the ICU will attempt to notify students of schedule changes. If in doubt, check the ICU website or call 864-467-4579: we will record a message on the answering machine and post a notice on the ICU website if the ICU is closed due to bad weather.
